Is there a dress code?
At Flat Run Church, there is no assigned dress code. From business to casual dress, our hope is that you feel welcome to worship with us.
How long is a service?
Our typical Sunday morning service lasts around 75-90 minutes.
What does our worship service look like?
At Flat Run, we seek to follow the regulative principle of worship. This means we seek to do in our worship services what God has clearly called us to do. In a given service we will pray, sings, confess our faith, observe the sacraments of the Lord’s Supper and baptism, and have an expositional sermon. Our sermons are normally between 40 to 45 minutes long. We do observe the Lord’s Supper weekly at the end of each service.
What type of worship/music is played?
Our music has a more modern sound (drums, piano, guitar). We sing both modern and traditional songs or hymns. Our philosophy is that Jesus Christ is exalted in what we are singing.
Am I expected to take part on the offering?
No. The offering is for members and regular attenders.
Is there a place for children?
Our philosophy of ministry at Flat Run Church is that parents are to be the primary disciplemakers in the home. At Flat Run, our children are viewed as a part of the church and the future of the church. Children four and older stay in the worship service with the adults and are not segregated. However, we do offer a nursery for kids 0-3 years of age which we encourage parents to use. To supplement home discipleship, we do seek to have quarterly emphasis on children’s studies through Sunday school type curriculum and catechism memorization.
As you work with your child to understand and take part in the worship service, we understand that it will not happen overnight. We will have a room available to take your little ones if you need to bring them out of the service for awhile. The room will live stream the service so you do not have to miss it.
